St Mary’s Hospice – Providing Specialist Care for Patients, Families and Professionals

St Mary’s Hospice provides vital, compassionate care for people with life-limiting illnesses across the Furness and South Lakes area. St Mary’s Hospice support patients and their families through every stage of their journey, offering specialist palliative care, emotional support, and practical guidance both in our hospice and in the community. St Mary’s Hospice mission is to help people live well until the end of life, with dignity, comfort, and choice.

St Mary’s Hospice services are always free for patients and families, but only 17% of our costs are covered by the Government. If our Government funding started on January 1st each year, it would have all been spent by mid-March.  Which means, 8 out of every 10 patients have their care funded by ‘voluntary income’.  This means that without people making donations, eating at the Orangery or buying from their shops, St Mary’s Hospice wouldn’t be here. It means that without businesses support, people playing the St Mary’s Hospice lottery, or leaving gifts in their wills, St Mary’s Hospice wouldn’t be here. St Mary’s Hospice are wholly reliant on the support of local people, organisations and businesses.
